　　Wanjie Proton Therapy Center (WPTC) is the first radiotherapy center which can offer proton therapy in China.

Zibo City

　　Situated in the middle of Shandong Province, Zibo City was named after two counties under its jurisdiction-Zichuan and Boshan. Now Zibo has jurisdiction over five districts and three counties, with an area of 5,938 square meters and a population of 4.15 million. It is a typical clustered city.

　　Zibo is rich in natural resources. More than 50 kinds of mineral resources have been discovered in the city, and Zibo is the main producer of bauxite, clay for making pottery and porcelain wares, coal and iron in Shandong Province. Huantai County took the lead in the counties of north China in the income of per mu (one mu = 1/15 hectare) yield of grain exceeding 1,000 yuan; Gaoqing County is one of the 100 top cotton counties in China; and Yiyuan County is among the 100 top fruit producers in the country. In 2004, the total agricultural output value of Zibo reached 10.12 billion yuan.

　　Zibo is an important collecting and distributing center and a trade center of Shandong Province, with 504 commodity trading markets. In 2004, the retail sales volume of social consumer goods reached 29.98 billion yuan, and the import and export volume, US $2.66 billion.

　　Zibo was named the advanced city in revitalizing itself with science and technology by the State Science and Technology Commission. At the end of 2004, it had 576 scientific research institutes, 140,000 technical personnel, 12 key colleges and universities, such as the Shandong University of Technology, and 1,150 medical and health centers.

　　With a time-honored history, Zibo is the birthplace of Qi culture, a famous historical and cultural city named by the state, an excellent tourism city of China, and the origin of the world football sports designated by the International Federation of Association Football. The main tourist attractions in Zibo include Boshan Karst Cave, the ruins of the Great Wall of the state of Qi, Mata Lake, the ancient city of the state of Qi, and the pit of immolated horses of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty. 　　The Site of the Ancient City of Qi State in Linzi Linzi City was the political, economic and cultural center of the state of Qi during the Warring States period (475-221 B.C.), and one of the largest cities in the country at that time, with a population of 500,000. A large number of cultural relics were discovered from ground and underground in Linzi. The tourist attractions in Linzi include the pit of immortal horses of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, the underground drainage pipeline of the state of Qi, the site where Confucius listened to Shao music, the hall of the secret history of the Qi State, Giant Stone Buddha in the Xitian Temple, the hall of stone carvings, the hall of cultural relics, Tomb of Yan Ying, Lord Huan Terrace, Hall of Golden Chimes, etc.
