Because children are more sensitive to radiation than adults, conventional radiotherapy may induce critical organs injury, for example, liver, kidney, spinal cord, ovary, or testis.

This problem could be solved by proton therapy. Through this precise “guided, localized explosion” technique, the important organs and tissues can be spared.
